Quake victim reunites with her cat 19 days after devastating earthquakes in Türkiye

DIYARBAKIR, TURKIYE - FEBRUARY 25: A 20-year-old young female reunited with her cat, named Zeno,19 days after catastrophic earthquakes struck southern Türkiye on Feb. 6. Sena Yaman, who was wounded in a heavily damaged building during the earthquake, began searching for her cat after being discharged from the hospital. Yaman said she was thinking of her cat all the time after getting out of the building with the help of neighbors. Stating that she attempted to save her cat after being discharged Yaman said: "We told Türkiye's Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) officials and all employees in the wreckage that our cat was inside and asked them to help." "I can walk with crutches. We were there every day, every hour, constantly going. I volunteered to enter the building, but they wouldn't let me in for life safety," she added. After long hours of search, the Yaman family and officials heard Zeno's meowing. Sena Yaman melted into tears outside the heavily damaged building after hearing Zeno's voice weeks after. She is not leaving Zeno in her sight after the reunion. Yaman thanked all officials including police teams who helped her to find her cat. The magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 quakes were centered in Kahramanmaras and struck 10 other provinces – Adana, Adiyaman, Diyarbakir, Elazig, Hatay, Gaziantep, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye, and Sanliurfa. More than 13 million people have been affected by the devastating quakes, and the death toll is now over 44,215. (Footage by Aydın Arik /Anadolu Agency via Getty Images)
