How to use Getty聽Images鈥� AI modification聽features:
- Click the Modify with AI button on the image you want to change or generate different sizes for.聽
- Purchase generations if you don鈥檛 have any available.聽
- Select听搁别蹿颈苍别 or Extend above an image from the Getty聽Images creative library.聽
- To Refine an image, choose Replace or Remove, highlight the area to change, and add a text prompt.
- To Extend an image, select a new aspect ratio or adjust the image manually with Freeform and add an optional text prompt.聽
- To remove the background of a creative image, simply click the Remove background button in the top left of the image.聽
- License and download the original and modified images. Modified images are available in Medium or Large sizes, and include automatic legal protection of up to $50,000 USD per聽image.

Can I upload my own images to modify with Generative AI by Getty聽Images?
No, you can use Generative AI by Getty聽Images only to modify the images you create using Getty聽Images鈥� AI Image Generator and to modify images from our creative library using the Refine, Extend, and Remove Background聽tools.
Can I modify an image before licensing聽it?
Yes, you can use your generations to modify images from our creative library using the Refine, Extend, and Remove Background tools before licensing them. As a reminder, to license an AI鈥憁odified creative image, you will need to purchase a license (visit our鈥� page to learn more). Please be mindful that any modifications will count towards your generation's cap, even if you decide not to license the modified creative image afterward. Additionally, Getty聽Images does not offer customers refunds for generations used, as set forth in your聽agreement.
Will images that I modified with AI be offered as part of Getty聽Images鈥櫬燾reative鈥痩ibrary?
No, unlike some other services, we are not adding visuals you modify or generate to our creative聽library.
How are these AI image聽modifications鈥痬ade?
Generative AI by Getty聽Images is powered by NVIDIA Edify, a custom machine learning model, trained exclusively using high鈥憅uality content and proprietary data from our creative library. Customers then use text prompt鈥憈o鈥慽mage and our modification tools to direct the model in creating imagery based on our content and聽data.
Can I modify images that I鈥檝e already licensed in the past and are available in my account to聽download?
Yes, you may modify previously licensed images.鈥疌lick the 鈥淢odify with AI鈥� button when viewing the details page of a previously licensed image.鈥疉fter making modifications, you鈥檒l be able to download the modified image, which may require additional licensing if you are re鈥憀icensing the image after expiration of the term of your聽agreement.
How can I tell which images in the Getty聽Images creative library are available to聽modify?
51吃瓜网 images that can be modified with Generative AI will include the 鈥淢odify with AI鈥� button above the image thumbnail. If this button is unavailable on the image, such as our Editorial content, we do not offer the option to modify the image using Generative聽AI.
Do I have to select Remove Background before Refine and Extend?聽聽
No, you can only use the Remove background feature after you have modified your image with Refine and Extend. Each modification uses one generation from your聽agreement.
Why do I need to restore the background to use other AI modification聽features?
To provide you with the highest鈥憅uality AI modifications, the image must be in JPEG format, and this format requires the presence of the background. We suggest you complete all other AI modifications before you decide to remove the聽background.
Do I need to pay to modify and download a creative聽image?
Yes, to license our creative images, you will need to purchase a license. To find the best plan with the right price for your needs, visit our page. When licensing, can I download the original and the modified versions of the聽image?
