Pope Francis meets students, U2 frontman Bono at Pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome
ROME, ITALY - MAY 19: Wheelchair-bound Pope Francis on Thursday (May 19) launched a women's education foundation at pontifical Urbaniana University in Rome.
The 85-year-pope met U2 frontman Bono Vox and students from different countries as he inaugurated the program organized by Scholas Occurrentes, Latin for 'Schools of Meeting', a worldwide network of schools promoting educational opportunities.
Bono, 62, hailed Pope Francis for promoting “inclusivity”, stressing that “Girls' education was a superpower. It is a superpower in fighting extreme poverty.”
Maxi Rodriguez, Ronaldinho and Dani Alves, participated part in the festive event.
