Sal Mineo interview 2 of 9
Host: What would you do with a child of yours if they showed theatrical promise?
Mineo: “Oh sure, If my son or daughter was as interested as I was at that age I’d go further / I’d expose them to even much more than I was”
Host: It had to be traumatic to your mother and father to allow you that first trip to Chicago /
Mineo: It really was the turning point of my life / My father pulled me aside and said, ‘if you get on that train your entire life is going to change’ I did not understand that”
Mineo: “He was absolutely right. My entire life was different from my family, my brothers; from anybody I know.”
(This interview was conducted on the set of PS Your Cat is Dead, the play he was rehearsing when he was murdered on February 12, 1976)
