Sal Mineo interview 3 of 9
Host: What happens to a teenager who suddenly has national stature?
Mineo: “I never had acne,” (laughs) “I never went through a lot of the usual things other kids went through… a lot of my friends were older.”
Host: REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE, EXODUS, DEANO… of all the films what were the fun ones?
Mineo: “REBEL was the one / That was like the epitome of a kid’s fantasy of what it would be like to make a movie” “I could not wait to get to the studio / Working with Jimmy, working with Natalie… it was like one - big - party / It was fun, it was not at all like a job - I’ve never experienced it like that since.”
(This interview was conducted on the set of PS Your Cat is Dead, the play he was rehearsing when he was murdered on February 12, 1976)
