Nagoya zoo’s handsome gorilla and pals move into spacious new surroundings

Video footage taken on Sept. 5 at the Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Garden in Nagoya shows Shabani, a male western lowland gorilla, reacting to reporters as he gets accustomed to his surroundings at the facility’s new and expanded African forest zone. Shabani, his gorilla companions and other animals were briefly housed away from public in June in preparation for the Sept. 6 opening of the new zone that more than doubles the size of their previous area.
