Bamboo tricycle serves as rolling reminder of uses for Japan's ubiquitous construction material

Video footage taken on Sept. 30 shows Yoshihiro Yamagishi, a fourth-generation bamboo material dealer from Susaki, Kochi Prefecture, showing off his motorized tricycle enveloped in a chassis made from various pieces of bamboo. Yamagishi constructed the vehicle in 2016 as a demonstration of how bamboo, both strong and flexible, remains a viable and ubiquitous alternative to other materials that are imported or wastefully discarded.
