Train Passengers Make Unexpected Transfer Amid Tea Fields Because of Electrical Trouble
Video footage taken on Oct. 23 shows passengers of an East Japan Railway Co. train bound for Tokyo having to make an unexpected transfer after being left stranded due to a problem with overhead electrical lines. Operation on the JR Utsunomiya Line, which links Tokyo and Tochigi Prefecture, was initially suspended by strong winds brought by Typhoon No. 21. Three trains carrying about 1,900 passengers were then stalled due to a power failure around noon. About 400 passengers on board the train shown, which stopped running amid tea fields, were picked up and brought back to a station in the opposite direction of their intended destination.
