Snowplows Receive Final Blessing Before Hitting The Road For Winter

Video footage taken on Nov. 9 in Hikone, Shiga Prefecture, shows a ceremony at the Hikone interchange area on the Meishin Expressway marking this season’s departure of snowplows that will serve in clearing the highway and other routes maintained by Central Nippon Expressway Co. Ltd. until the end of March. A Shinto priest was on hand to bless the crews and their vehicles which received a final inspection before hitting the road. As many as 96 vehicles and 356 operators can be mobilized when snows reach the area.
