Skunk cabbages, marsh marigolds signal start of hiking season in Ozegahara
Video footage taken on May 23 at the popular Ozegahara (1,400 meters) hiking route in Gunma Prefecture shows visitors admiring “mizubasho” skunk cabbages(Lysichitum camtschatcense)in bloom as melted snows water the area’s marsh. Also shown are “ryukinka” marsh marigolds (Caltha palustris) which together with the skunk cabbages create a popular draw to the area. (Tsuin Cho)
