Military ruins unearthed in Hiroshima to make way for soccer stadium

Video footage taken on June 25 in Hiroshima shows ruins uncovered during preparations for a soccer stadium. The city is currently evaluating the A-bomb ruins of wartime army facilities for possible partial preservation. The 6,000-square-meter area located west of the Hiroshima Castle once served as facilities of the Imperial Japanese Army's logistics corps and includes the foundations of barracks, horse stables and oven. Much of the area was destroyed by the atomic bomb dropped on the city at the end of World War II. The video footage was taken by Nobutake Takahashi and Jun Ueda of The Asahi Shimbun.
