Italian novelist revisits Hokkaido campus, site of wartime spy incident

Video footage taken on June 16 at Hokkaido University shows Italian novelist Dacia Maraini, 87, visiting the site of the home where she lived 83 years ago as her father researched the Ainu culture. During World War II the home and the family was caught up in the 1941 Miyazawa-Lane incident which saw a Japanese and an American instructor wrongly accused by secret police of espionage.
