Hong Kong Seniors Come Out In Support Of Younger Anti-Extradition Protesters
Video footage taken on July 17 in Hong Kong shows elderly citizens, some in wheelchairs, turning up in a show of support for younger residents who have led protests against proposed legislation to extradite criminal suspects to mainland China. The rare demonstration drew more than 8,000 people, many apparently in their 60s and 70s, despite temperatures exceeding 30 degrees, according to organizers. In terms of longevity, Hong Kong tops the list of 50 countries and regions for which Japan’s health ministry keeps data. The average lifespan for women is 87.66 years and that for men is 81.70 years, exceeding figures for Japanese.
