Living dinosaur Komodo dragon a new feature at Nagoya zoo
Video footage taken on Aug. 22 at the Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens in Nagoya shows Taro, a Komodo dragon (Varanus komodoensis) brought to the facility from Singapore on July 18. Endemic to Indonesia, Komodo dragons are lizards often referred to as living dinosaurs that can reach 3 meters in length and weigh beyond 160 kilograms. Taro currently weighs about 50 kilograms and measures 2.7 meters in length. (Tomomi Terasawa)
