Immense sacred rope hung on largest 'torii' gate in country

Video footage taken on April 18 in Nanyo, Yamagata Prefecture, shows a 300-kilogram "shimenawa" sacred rope make from rice straw being hung to replace an older one on the largest "torii" gate in the country. Erected in 1903 at local Eboshiyama-hanchmangu shrine, the stone torii stands 10.75-meter stone with a stone slab on top measuring 12.7 meters across. (Tatsuro Sakata)
