Hokkaido researchers gather cockroaches to study pheromones

Video footage taken June 22 inside Maruyama Park in Sapporo shows researchers from Hokkaido University bagging dozens of "yamato gokiburi" Japanese cockroaches (Periplaneta japonica) on a nocturnal venture. The two researchers are studying the role of the female sex pheromones released to attract males with colleagues from other universities. The study is expected to help inhibit the reproduction of cockroaches. (Hiraku Toda)
