Green LED lights help flounder fatten faster in Oita Prefecture

Video footage taken in Saiki, Oita Prefecture, shows flounder, or bastard halibut, being fed under the illumination of green LED lights at a local breeding facility. The green light is believed to affect the cerebral function of the fish, making them hungrier and increasing their pace of growth and shortening the time to get them ready for market, normally 14 months, by three months. The video footage was taken by Jin Nishioka of The Asahi Shimbun.
