Figure skater, space rocket and Buddha form impressively large tapestry in Miyagi Prefecture rice paddy

Video footage taken in Kakuda, Miyagi Prefecture, shows a 5,000-square-meter rice paddy carefully planted with several different varieties of rice to grow a giant-sized image of figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu, a native of the prefecture. The skater himself gave permission for the paddy project themed on “hope for the future” that also includes a stylized depiction of a Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency rocket and a Buddha figure from a late Heian Period (794-1185) temple located in the vicinity.
