Japan’s 2018 World Cup manager takes helm of Thai national soccer team
Video footage taken in Bangkok on Sept. 4 shows Akira Nishino, in charge of the Thai national soccer men’s team since July, assessing his team’s potential on the eve of a qualifier against Vietnam’s national team to take place in the Thai capital. A former player, Nishino led the Japanese national team into the knockout stage of the 2018 World Cup. Despite the limited time he has been given with the team. Nishino praised his players’ individual potentials but noted their need for more experience and will to go beyond seniority in order to make their presence felt. (Ryuta Sometaya)
