Sapporo High School shifts to online learning to keep coronavirus threat at distance

Video footage taken Feb. 28 shows teachers at Sapporo Shinyo High School in Hokkaido holding their first online classes as students stay home as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19. Some 551 first- and second-year students are to be taught in real time during the measure set to continue until March 13. Although the high school began lending tablets and portable laptops to its students and teachers three years ago to focus on information and communications technology, the coronavirus countermeasure represents the faculty’s first real hands-on at distance learning.
