Powerful new railway snowplow unveiled in wintry Hokkaido
Video footage taken Dec. 6 at JR Shimamatsu Station in Eniwa in Hokkaido shows the ENR-1000, a rotary snowplow newly put into service to clear drifts on the Chitose Line tracks connecting Sapporo and Shin-Chitose Airport. Touted to have 1.75 times the ability of current snowplows in use, the giant machine is said to be able to clear up to seven kilometers of hard snow in an hour.
