Figure Skater Rika Kihira Returns To Japan After Victory At Grand Prix Final In Vancouver
Video footage taken at Tokyo’s Narita Airport on Dec. 11 shows 16-year-old Rika Kihira speaking before the press after returning with a gold medal earned in the women’s event of the Figure Skating Grand Prix Final held in Vancouver. Kihira won the prize in her first appearance in the final, becoming only the second Japanese female skater to do so after Mao Asada, who accomplished the feat in 2005. Kihira praised Asada as her idol, after having herself shown off her predecessor’s signature triple axel at the event.
