Venezuela's Maduro attends Int'l Anti-Fascist World Festival in Caracas
CARACAS, VENEZUELA - JAN. 11: Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro attended the International Anti-Fascist World Festival in capital Caracas on Saturday, Jan. 11.
In his address to the participants, President Maduro responded to former Colombian President Alvaro Uribe Velez, who earlier called for an international military intervention to remove Maduro from power.
Uribe argued that such an intervention would put an end to "the dictatorship" and pave the way for free elections.
Maduro urged Uribe to "come and lead the troops" himself and said he would face him "on the battleground".
Maduro on Friday, Jan. 10, was sworn in as Venezuela’s president for a third term, pledging that it will be a period of peace and democracy. (Footage by Julio Urribarri /Anadolu Agency via Getty Images)
