The figurine was exhibited under the concept of "cult of the dead", as part of the "You Will See What You Haven't Seen" project apply by the museum which allows rare works in the museum's warehouse to be exhibited in the treasury room for one-month periods. Charon is believed to have taken the dead souls through the Styx River by boat to the mythological god of the underworld Hades. ​​​​​​​The figurine is on display for the first time after it was restored by experts, it was excavated in the Klazomenai Ancient City in Urla, in 2014.
