Congressman Owens describes youth in Tallahassee seeing successful Blacks

Utah Congressman Burgess Owens says in floor remarks on Black History Month that there is a reason why through the 1940s 1950s and 1960s, the Black community that led growth of the middle class, why he growing up in Tallahassee at 16 years old saw nothing but business ownership everywhere from pharmacies to FAMU hospital with Black nurses and Black doctors, engineers, lawyers, teachers, and the message was very similar to youth that they may achieve anything and make our country great with faith and family believing in the free market and education.
