J William Fulbright discusses the KennedyÊCenter
United States Senator from Arkansas (AR) William J Fulbright discusses the future of the John F. Kennedy Center for the performing arts on opening night of the center on September 8, 1971. The opening night festivities featured a performance of Leonard Bernstein's MASS: A Theatre Piece for Singers, Players, and Dancers. Fulbright says, "None of these centers are self supporting there are none in the world that I know of self supporting, this is a memorial. I think the actual performances just the operations of the Opera and so on will be but this is going to be a memorial there will be thousands."
