Turkish FM meets Kosovo President on sidelines of SEECP summit

TIRANA, ALBANIA - JUNE 16, 2025: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan met with Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani in Tirana on Monday, June 16, on the sidelines of the Southeast European Cooperation Process (SEECP) Heads of State and Government Summit. During the bilateral meetings, Fidan underlined Türkiye’s commitment to peace and stability in the Balkans, highlighting Ankara’s ongoing support for Kosovo through international peacekeeping missions and regional dialogue initiatives. Fidan attended the SEECP summit on behalf of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, according to Turkish diplomatic sources. Organized under the theme Promoting Stability and Prosperity through Regional Cooperation and EU Integration, the summit brought together heads of state, government officials, foreign ministers from 13 participating countries, and European Union representatives. The final declaration will emphasize the importance of regional ownership in fostering sustainable development, security, and stability. It is also expected to note Türkiye’s diplomatic efforts to help end the Russia-Ukraine war and express support for a fair and lasting peace in Gaza. The SEECP is a regional forum for dialogue and cooperation among Southeast European countries. The 13 participating countries are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Türkiye.
