Turkish farmers produce oyster mushroom in old munitions depot
TEKIRDAG, TÜRKİYE - JULY 17: Turkish farmers have been producing mushrooms in an old military munitions depot in Tekirdag province of Türkiye.
Three years ago, as part of a project "Hands Producing and Processing Covered Mushrooms" eight ammunition depots were turned into mushroom production facility by the Trakya Development Agency and Kapakli Municipality.
On Monday (July 17) Anadolu Agency Video News (AAVN) videoed harvest of oyster mushrooms produced with sunflower shell and wheat straw compost.
Kapakli Mayor Mustafa Cetin said “We aimed to increase agricultural integrity and productivity.”
Cetin added that want to produce mushrooms that will serve both the cosmetic industry and the medical industry by producing different mushroom varieties in this region in the future. (Footage by Ugur Arslan /Anadolu Agency via Getty Images)
