English Morris Dancers Lead May Day Celebration in Ashdown Forest
Traditional English Morris dancers performed for community members in Ashwood Forest at sunrise on Thursday, May 1, a ritual meant to bring "fertility and good luck to everybody in the land," one dancer said. This footage captured by Britclip shows the dancers performing the "Cotswold Style" in Ashwood Forest, located near Wych Cross in England. The dance involved waving handkerchiefs to ward off evil spirits and banging sticks to wake the earth from its winter nap.
