HM Queen Elizabeth II arrives in Canberra.
Touching down for her sixteenth visit to Australia, the Queen was greeted by more than 200 adults and schoolchildren as she disembarked from a specially-chartered British Airways 777. Dressed in an aqua coloured military coat with matching hat, she received a 21 gun salute as the Band of the Federation Guard played the Australian and British national anthems. The Queen will remain in Canberra until Sunday when she will fly to Brisbane to meet victims of this year’s Queensland floods. She will then move on to Melbourne and Perth where she will open the Commonwealth Heads of Government Conference.
