The Tomato Frog (Dyscophus species) is a distinctive amphibian native to Madagascar, known for its vibrant red-orange coloration reminiscent of a ripe tomato. Typically measuring around 2 to 3 inches, these frogs have stout bodies and large mouths. Their bright color serves as a warning to potential predators, signaling their toxicity. Tomato Frogs are primarily terrestrial and inhabit humid rainforests, relying on a diet of insects and small invertebrates. During the breeding season, females lay eggs in shallow water, and males guard the developing tadpoles.
