Commemorations Held For Somme Centenary
VOICED: Today marks a hundred years since the start of one of the bloodiest battles in human history. The Battle of the Somme was fought between British and French soldiers and German forces on the Western Front - Over one million men on all sides were killed or wounded. Today, commemorations were held on both sides of the channel to honour and remember them. Shows aerials of Beaumont Hamel cemetery. Commemorative ceremony at Thiepval Memorial attended by David Cameron, UK Prime Minister, Prince Charles, Prince of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall. David Cameron, SLT Jack Charles Carlisle, Royal navy, and Clive Adlam, Solider's son make statements. Actors Joely Richardson and Charles Dance also speak at the service.
