Protest in Stockholm against Israeli actions in Gaza, calls for international accountability

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN - SEPTEMBER 7: Thousands of people gathered in Stockholm on Saturday (Sep.7) to protest Israel's actions in Gaza. Around 3,000 demonstrators, organized by various civil society groups, assembled in the Odenplan area, demanding an immediate end to what they described as war crimes in Gaza. The protesters marched to Raoul Wallenberg Square, displaying banners and chanting slogans calling for the liberation of Gaza and Palestine, and criticizing U.S. support for Israel. Prof. Dr. Mattias Gardell from Uppsala University characterized the situation in Gaza as a defining humanitarian crisis. He argued that the ongoing violence constitutes a crime against humanity, likening its significance to historical events such as the Holocaust. Gardell criticized the international community for not imposing sanctions or legal measures against Israel, which he believes has enabled the continuation of violence. The protest also highlighted the recent killing of activist AyÅŸenur Ezgi Eygi by Israeli forces in the West Bank, which participants condemned as a political assassination. Jewish activist Dror Feiler joined the protest, emphasizing the disproportionate impact of the violence on Palestinians and calling for an end to military support for Israel from Western countries.(Footage by Atila AltuntaÅŸ/Anadolu Agency via Getty Images)
