The United States Senate votes 53-44 to again reject a bill withholding federal grants to sanctuary cities for noncompliance with deportation detainers, the vote announced by sponsor Pat Toomey of Philadelphia in the chair. Senators then vote 55-42 to again reject Kate's Law regarding undocumented immigrants with past felonies and criminal convictions. As Senators vote eventually 65-32, opponents of genetically modified food throw cash from the gallery onto Senators in the chamber below. That vote is then announced.
