Turkish TV series ‘Yargi’ wins Emmy Award for best telenovela

NEW YORK, US - NOV. 20: The Turkish TV series called "Yargi” meaning “Judgment" won the International Emmy Award for best telenovela in New York, US on Monday (Nov. 20). The International Emmy Awards, given by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences to works produced outside the US, found their winners at the ceremony in Hilton Midtown Hotel. At the ceremony, 56 productions from 20 countries were represented in 14 categories where Turkish TV series Yargi won the award in the "Best Telenovela" category. The producer of the series Kerem Catay, director Ali Bilgin, screenwriter Sema Ergenekon and leading actors Pinar Deniz and Kaan Urgancioglu were present at the ceremony. Canada's Buffy Saint-Marie documentary won the International Emmy Award for "Arts Programming." Canadian filmmaker Madison Thomas directed the documentary, which examines the singer's career spanning over 60 years. At the award ceremony, Deepak Chopra presented the International Emmy Directing Award to Ektaa R. Kapoor, Co-Founder of Balaji Telefilms.
