Dundee Tay Rail Bridge with train passing
The Tay Rail Bridge carries the mainline railway across the Firth of Tay between Fife and Dundee. It is a key artery on the London to Aberdeen route. This is the 2nd bridge to be built. The first collapsed in December 1879 and remains one of the great engineering disasters of history. A six carriage train with 76 people on board plunged into the icy river, killing all on board.
