Japan: Typhoon Mitag Barrels Toward Okinawa
The southernmost Yaeyama region of Okinawa that includes the Ishigaki and Sakishima islands are already feeling the ferocious winds and heavy rains brought about by the approaching Typhoon Mitag (local name: Typhoon No. 18) on Monday, September 30. Residents were advised to prepare for power outages as the islands are expected to experienced intensified typhoon conditions in the evening.
