Dinosaur Gallery Of The Royal Belgian Institute Of Natural Sciences
BRUSSELS, BELGIUM - APRIL 7: The skeleton of a Bernissart Iguanodon displays in the Dinosaur Gallery of the Royal Belgium Institute of Natural Sciences on April 7, 2023 in Brussels, Belgium. The Iguanodon was widespread in the early Cretaceous. Measuring 5m high, between 6 and 10m long and weighing more than 4 tons, this massive-bodied dinosaur was both bipedal and quadrupedal. With a surface area of over 3000m² (32291ft²) and dozens of specimens, the Dinosaur Gallery is the largest room in Europe entirely devoted to dinosaurs, their discovery, lives and evolution. Dinosaurs first appeared nearly 230 million years ago, at the end of the Triassic period. During the Jurassic period, they multiplied and diversified, colonizing every continent. They became extinct at the end of the Cretaceous period 65 million years ago. (Footage by Thierry Monasse/Getty Images)
