Gladiators exhibition held at Archaeological Museum of Naples
NAPLES, ITALY - NOVEMBER 12: The National Archaeological Museum of Naples is currently home to the exhibition of "Gladiatori", or Gladiators, offering the visitors a historical tour into the gladiatorial combats in ancient Rome.
The exhibition presents to the public the evolution of gladiatorial combat through its main aspects, from the origins to the first fights of the Republican period, up to the spectacular games organized during the imperial period.
With 150 objects on display, the tour takes visitors to discover how complex the organization implied by the games was and how deeply it permeated many aspects of public and private life.
The exhibition is curated by Valeria Sampaolo and originated from a network built with the Antikenmuseum und Sammlung Ludwig of Basel and from a synergy created with the Parco Archeologico del Colosseo.
It has been financially supported by Regione Campania and by Intesa Sanpaolo.
Exhibition can be seen until April 18, 2022.
As of Aug. 6, 2021, access to the Museum is only allowed upon presentation of a valid Green Pass under COVID-19 prevention measures. (Footage by Stringer/Anadolu Agency via Getty Images)
