Tornado watch cancelled for New Orleans, remains in effect for southwest Mississippi counties

MISSISSIPPI, US - MARCH 26: The latest tornado watch for New Orleans was cancelled late on Sunday, March 26, however it remains in effect for some southwest Mississippi counties. "The tornado watch has been cancelled for all parishes and counties now. There may be some showers and possibly a thunderstorm in spots, but the severe threat has diminished for our area," according to the official Twitter account of the National Weather Service New Orleans. "The tornado watch has been cancelled for our LA Parishes and Pearl River County. The watch remains in effect for southwest Mississippi counties (Wilkinson, Amite, Pike, Walthall)," it said. Biden has appointed John Boyle, coordinating officer of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, to coordinate federal recovery operations in the affected areas, the statement said.
