2000 People See Off The Sleeper Express Cassiopeia

TOKYO, JAPAN – MAR. 19: The last Sleeper Express Cassiopeia (Ueno - Sapporo) to leave Tokyo departed Ueno station on March 19. The Cassiopeia will cease to run due to the starting of the Hokkaido shinkansen. Approximately 2000 train fans gathered on the platform to see it off. The Cassiopeia debuted in July 1999, had 12 passenger carriages, and carried 174 people. The East Japan Railway Company will revive the Cassiopeia as a train for tourists in July this year.
