Claude Monet’s house and gardens in Giverny draw record visitors
GIVERNY, FRANCE - JULY 9, 2025: The house and gardens of world-renowned painter Claude Monet continue to draw large crowds in France’s Normandy region.
Second only to Mont Saint-Michel as the most visited site in the region, the historic estate welcomed 750,000 visitors in 2023 — up from 530,000 in 2010 — reflecting a steady rise in interest in Monet’s legacy.
Monet, a founding figure of the Impressionist movement, lived in the village of Giverny from 1883 until his death in 1926. His home and its vibrant gardens — including the famed water lily pond and Japanese bridge — inspired many of his iconic works.
Today, the property operates as a museum, offering visitors a unique look into the artist’s life and creative space.
