ISTANBUL, TURKEY - MARCH 2: The funeral ceremony of Turkish author Yasar Kemal, who died at the age of 92 on 28th of February 2015, is held at Tesvikiye Mosque in Istanbul, Turkey on March 2, 2015. The writer is a leading Turkish author whose works have been published in dozens of languages. Kemal, who wrote more than 20 novels and nearly 10 experimental works, in addition short stories, is also famous for his contributions to recreating Turkish as a literary language. He is the first Turkish author to be nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature and has won numerous international awards and honors including the Cino del Duca World Prize in 1982 and the Legion d'Honneur in 1984. 03: 50 - 03:59 - Former President of Turkey Abdullah Gul: Turkey has lost it's literary giant.
