Arhuaco Indigenous demand Colombian government to protect their territories
BOGOTA, COLOMBIA - NOVEMBER 10: The Arhuaco Indigenous people of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta demand Ivan Duque's Goverment to stop recognizing people who have not been chosen by their people to govern in their territories in Bogota, Colombia on November 10, 2021. A hundred Arhuaco indigenous held a rally in front of the Attorney General's Office, and asked government to protect their territories from extractive activities. The mamos (spiritual leaders) are asking for respect from President Duque not to impose a governor that they have not chosen and to divide the Arhuaco people in order to promote extractive projects in the Sierra.
