The actress Blanca Portillo acknowledges the merit of the Oscar nominations for Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem and assures that she will be moved when she sees the gala: "already, just that the two of them are there, it seems to me that it is a gift for this country and for this profession and for anyone who loves culture. I'm looking forward to that night because I'll sit down and cry, I'm sure." He thanks Penélope Cruz for representing Spain and Spanish cinema: "she carries our country as a flag, she always carries it, just like Javier. We can't do anything but congratulate them and congratulate ourselves on having this luck of having them." He appreciates the progress that the Union of Actors and Actresses has achieved with the recognition of the profession: "I think that we have our rights more and more present, demands that are heard and I think that we have gained positions socially, we have stopped being a little like dolls and dolls that are out there doing their little things". He defends the good quality that Spanish cinema has always had, although it has been called into question: "I think we have always had excellent cinema, what happens is that now it is seen more abroad, that is important and that every day will grow and do better jobs".
