Berlin Film Festival kicks off with new Tom Tykwer drama and star-studded red carpet

BERLIN, GERMANY-FEB. 13: The 75th edition of the International Berlin Film Festival (Berlinale) kicked off on February 13, with the premiere of Tom Tykwer’s latest drama, The Light. The event featured a star-studded red carpet before the screening of the opening film. The film, The Light, starring Lars Eidinger and Nicolette Krebitz, tells the story of a dysfunctional married couple whose lives are turned upside down when they hire a housekeeper, played by Tala Al-Deen. A number of international celebrities attended the red carpet event, including Scottish actress Tilda Swinton, director Tom Tykwer, and actor Lars Eidinger. Also spotted at the glamorous affair were Berlin’s prominent political figures, such as Berlin Senator for Economics, Energy, and Entrepreneurship Franziska Giffey, and Berlin Mayor Kai Wegner.
