International Festival of Carthage kicks off in Tunisia
TUNIS, TUNISIA - JULY 14: The 56th edition of the Carthage International Festival (FIC) has started in the Tunisian capital on Thursday, July 14.
A selection of 33 shows are scheduled between July 14 and August 20.
Festival are all performed in the Roman Amphitheater of Carthage that was restored in the early twentieth century and which has a capacity of 7,500 spectators.
Among the participants at the opening ceremony on Thursday evening was Tunisian tennis player Ons Jabeur, who has just reached her first Grand Slam final in Wimbledon. She became the first Tunisian and Arab player to reach a Grand Slam final.
The annual musical event is considered as one of the biggest artistic events in the Arab World and Africa.
