House Members Contrast Sharply over LGBT Amendment
Texas Congressman Pete Sessions speaks in opposition to an amendment guaranteeing persistence of an executive order regarding LGBT workplace protections from Federal contractors, explaining that it had occurred the night before on a separate bill. New York Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney, who had offered that evening vote on an amendment resolved in the affirmative, asks Sessions whether the House will include a provision that would roll back basic employment protections for gays and lesbians, whether it is necessary to do this discriminate against gays and lesbians in transgender Americans for the promotion of national defense. Sessions replies that House aides to transcend that issue that as a body as it had the night before.
