Texas Congressman Michael Conaway asks former Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson at a hearing of the House Intelligence Committee inquiring into Russian interference in the 2016 election about the mission of the Homeland Security Department and a delay in notifying the FBI. Johnson distinguishes between crime and counterintelligence, describing his relationship with former FBI Director James Comey, that agencies coordinated, but there could be improvements. Contact between the government and the Democratic National Committee which he became aware of months later. Johnson is further asked about known probing and scanning of state voter registration databases by the Russians in late summer 2016, and critical infrastructure designations which he called a no-brainer that should have been done years before.
