Texas Congressman Kevin Brady says that the tax cuts in jobs act was historic legislation that would revitalize the economy and provide lasting relief for Americans of all walks of life, that the tax code had become one of the most complicated and uncompetitive in the world, its overwhelming complexity, forcing American taxpayers to spends of dollars just filing their taxes. Brady says that with the highest tax rates in the world for businesses, good paying American jobs and manufacturing plants removing overseas one after another, but there was an opportunity to deliver the most transformational tax overhaul in a generation, not about Congress but about providing a simple and fair tax system. Brady says the standard deduction was doubled, a larger child tax credit providing more support to families, more jobs on Main Street, larger businesses, where iconic American brands and major manufacturers would win throughout the world with one of the most competitive tax codes on the planet. Brady says the American people waited decades for a fair, simple and competitive tax code, that like President Ronald Reagan and president trump putting their full support behind the effort it was time to pass the historic bill.
